Banner Week Project #2: Paper Die-Cut Sheet

March 3rd, 2012

My niece, Addie turned THREE last month. Boy does time fly!

Her mom sent me this cute photo of Addie in the outfit and sunglasses we gave her.

Adorable!

On this “Banner” layout, I used a paper die-cut sheet.

This particular banner was from the Three Bugs in a Rug, Ashtyn line.

I also used the fun pink scalloped edge from the same die-cut sheet.

I’m having a blast using banners in my projects. Do you like the look of banners and use them on your projects?

Stay tuned, there are lots more banners to come…

Banner Week Project #1: The Rub-on Banner

March 1st, 2012

While I was playing with scrapbooking product over the weekend, I realized just how many banner options there are in the wide world of scrapbooking. Banners are a hot commodity and I don’t foresee their popularity waning anytime soon.

So. I decided to challenge myself to create several projects using different types of banners.

Enter Project #1: The Rub-on Banner entitled, “Long Hair”

These particular rub-on transfers are by My Mind’s Eye. I should have taken a photo of the package before I opened it but I didn’t come up with this silly “Banner Week” idea until I was already four projects in.

Oh-buh-kay-bee…moving on.

Parker and I had this ridiculous banter about his hair getting way to long. Parker said he would never cut it. Never ever. ever.

Or so he thought.

Mom always wins. Bwahhh haaa haaaa!

The photo of Parker in this “Long Hair” layout is now considered his “before” haircut photo.

I should also mention that I was completely inspired by this week’s palette and sketch from The Color Room.

Stay tuned. I have many more banner projects coming up.

Have a gorgeous day!

Happy Dog {My Mind’s Eye}

February 27th, 2012

Sit. Good Boy.

Lay down. Good boy.

Marley is a good dog. He’s a happy dog.

Marley wasn’t always a good dog. He went through the hyper puppy stage (even though he was already a year old when we adopted him). He chewed up a couch cushion and used to get into the kitchen garbage. We were smart and bought a can with a lid. But Marley  made up for all of his naughty behavior  because he was always good snuggler at nap time.

Now he’s the only one who takes naps around here. Lucky dog.

…I guess the cats take naps too. Lucky cats.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

So Much Less Without Each Other

February 21st, 2012

This is the Valentine card that I made for my husband, Dan.

Dan and I are so much less without each other. And so much more because we’re together.

I recently started writing our love story in my journal. When I was younger, I rarely kept a journal. I’ve been reminiscing about when Dan and I were young…how he asked me to marry him the day we met. Our first kiss (which just happened to be under mistletoe). How Dan asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentines day…he showed up for dinner late but he wrote me a song and played it for me on his guitar.

After all these years, Dan is still so romantic.

I love Dan. He makes me a better woman.

You Light Up My Life

February 17th, 2012

This card gave me the perfect opportunity to use the My Mind’s Eye stamps I’ve had sitting on my desk for a while now.

I love the little lamp stamp. So cute.

…makes me think of Anchor Man.

“I love lamp.”

Do you have any fun weekend plans? I’ve been so busy lately, I’m hoping to just have some time to relax a bit. We’ll see.

Catch you on the flip side. :)

xoxo, Christie

Love.

February 14th, 2012

Happy Valentines Day!

I just want to take a second to tell you how special you are!

I hope you know that you are loved and appreciated.

Thank you for being my friend! xx

The above layout is dedicated to my sweet, darling, wonderful hubby, and valentine, Dan.

He is so romantic and amazing in countless ways. I am so grateful for him, every day.

I hope that your Valentine’s day is filled with love.

And Chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

Can there ever be too much chocolate?

Love You

February 11th, 2012

Nothing says, “I love you” like a bubble wrap heart dipped in red paint and stamped onto a card. Except maybe a kiss and hug…and some chocolate. OK. A lot of chocolate.

Valentines Day. Bring on the love.

Ahhhh amore.

Baby Bath Time

February 9th, 2012

Seriously? I am the luckiest auntie ever! I get to plant kisses on this boys head

all. the. time.

He is a cutie patootie.

Like I said, I am the luckiest.

I Love Every Moment With You

February 5th, 2012

I’m not sure why but I really love the way this card turned out. The different textures and layers…paint, canvas, lace, twine, buttons. I also love the blue and yellow color combination, it’s just so…well…happy!

To create the painted background on this card, I used leftover cardstock (from cutting out titles) as a template.

This is the album I was cutting out titles for:

If you’re interested, you can purchase a kit to create this album yourself HERE.

Have a happy Monday!

Sleepy Boy

February 4th, 2012

Is there anything more peaceful than a sleeping baby?

I think not.

This photo of my nephew, Tucker, was taken on Christmas morning.

Just looking at it makes me want to kiss his little face.

I hope you have a fun-filled-super-duper weekend!
