A Little Home Decor…Shimmerz Style

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Shimmerz Lime in da Coconut and No Yoking helped me add a little color to my living room.

These little….what shall I call them?  Puffy balls? Accents? Not sure.

Anyway…these little er…accents are easy to make.

I used several 2″ foam balls and hot glued mini cupcake liners to them,

Once the foam balls were completely covered with cupcake liners, I spritzed them with colors that matched my home decor.

Easy peasy.

I hope that you’re having an enjoyable weekend!

Spring Wall Hanging

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

The tulips in my yard are finally blooming! Spring must be here, right?

Tomorrow is the last day of school for my kids. SUMMER vacation starts this Friday. Summer? It’s barely Spring in Idaho!

The weather report says it’s supposed to rain this weekend…and possibly even snow a bit! Snow?!

And they call it Summer vacation.

I created this little “Spring” wall hanging with the Scarlet Lime “Fresh Picked” kit.

I was lucky enough to receive one of these fabulous kits for  a Scrap N Art Magazine article.

If you get a second, check out Scarlet Lime. I’m just about to start Christy Tomlinson’s She Art Workshop, and possibly the She Had Three Hearts Workshop.

I’m SUPER excited!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

A little Steampunk…

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

I must admit, steampunk is quite a stretch for me. When assigned projects for the Scrap N Art Steampunk Issue, I knew that I would be stretching myself further than I have had to in the past.  Although Steampunk is still not my forte, I did enjoy coming up with some ‘out of the box’ projects.

This is my little Steampunk Angel (the product I used was Graphic 45, Steampunk Debutante).

And here is my mended broken heart (the product I used was BoBunny, Timepiece):

After all was said and done, I was in charge of writing an article for the Steampunk Issue called, “Let’s Explore Steampunk”.

As you well know, writing is not my thing. I’m just SO bad at it.

Luckily, Scrap N Art has a wonderful editor.

This is the quote that I found most helpful in understanding what Steampunk is:

“Imagine a world where electricity never became viable. Where Tesla never experimented and
Einstein stayed a patent clerk. Take Victorian sensibility, with mad-scientist speculation and
inject a bit of sci-fi . A world powered by steam and gears where flight is through the majestic
zeppelin and brass is more populace than steel. “– Min [Tribe Forum]

I’m in Provo this weekend visiting my grandmother. We were planning on attending the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point but this morning we awoke to snow!

Snow? Spring? Maybe we’ll go see a movie…

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope that you have a beautiful weekend!

A Gift From Sandy Ang

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

A little while back I judged a blog challenge for Sandy Ang.

Sandy Ang is SO talented and has the best tutorials on her blog.

I received this amazing card when I opened my mail box yesterday:

A handmade card from Sandy, sent all the way from Singapore!  And WOW! Look at the detail:

Sandy also decorated these adorable “little monkey” glasses:

I tried to get some photos of my nephew, Cooper wearing these glasses this morning…every time I would try to snap a shot, he would take the glasses off. Go figure. It didn’t change how cute these glasses are!

Thank you for the card and gift Sandy, they are both amazing!

Hello From Vegas!

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

We’re still in Vegas and still having fun!

_______________________________________________________________

While I’m away….

Here’s a little card I created using some My Minds Eye paper from ‘the stash’. There’s a bit of Shimmerz on the card…Anchor’s Away.

Here’s a little mini banner (it was hard to photograph). It reads:

LOVE TO CREATE

Each section of this banner is only 2 inches high. Definitely mini.

My sweet little Nephew, Cooper turned ONE on April fools day!

Cooper with his parents:

A sweet little family…

OK…off to explore more of Vegas!

Graphic 45 {Once Upon a Springtime} Party Hat

Friday, February 4th, 2011

This little project was so fun to create!

I used the 8×8 inch Once Upon a Springtime paper pad instead of the larger 12×12 inch sheets.

I love that all the prints and little fairies are so tiny on the 8×8 inch paper pad.

This little party hat was only about 6 inches tall (plus a few more inches for the fairies flying above).

I used A LOT of glitter on my projects for CHA. Love glitter.

The feel of this line is so soft and pretty, perfect for a baby’s room…baby shower, etc.

Thanks for stopping by today.

I hope that you have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Be Mine Banner Using Making Memories {Je t’Adore}

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Valentines Day is always so fun to celebrate!  A day filled with love…

I usually start decorating my house about now…so creating this “Be Mine” Banner got me in the Valentine-decorating mood.

My daughter, Izabelle has been itching to make some Valentines (pictures coming soon)

This Banner was fun to make – my glue gun came in handy.

I hung some crystal beads from the bottom of each triangle.  Love the extra sparkle.

Spread the love!

Shimmerz Coloringz On Fabric

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

My daughter, Izabelle and I had some fun with the NEW Coloringz from Shimmerz yesterday.

We spritzed Lime in da Coconut on lace (for leaves), then  Mandarin Mai Tai and Pink Stiletto on strips of white fabric to create flowers for a headband.

I love how vibrant these new colors are.

Izabelle loved showing off her new headband at school.

Thanks for stopping by!

Graphic 45 {Christmas Past} Hand Stitched Stocking

Monday, December 20th, 2010

How funny is it that I used to be known (among scrappy friends) for hand stitching on layouts? Not anymore.

Stitching was one of those things that I felt completed a layout. Now its…chalk…buttons…flowers…?

I still love stitching. This paper stocking definitely needed a little something extra.

Silver bells come in handy too.

I’m enjoying the season and spending lots of time with family.  As of this afternoon, my kiddos are officially out of school for Christmas Break.

Fun will be had by all…especially with more cookie baking happening tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Simple Halloween Garland

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

This little garland is hanging in my living room right now.

It was very easy to make…for the life of me I cannot remember the line of scrapbook paper I used (I purchased the paper in 2009). I love this Halloween paper because all six sweet Halloween images were on one sheet of 12″ x 12″ paper.

I simply cut out the images, chalked the edges and then backed each image with black cardstock.

I punched a couple holes at the top of each image and strung them together with orange ribbon.

Once I hung the garland on the wall, I weaved a leaf garland and some black mesh through the orange ribbon.

Not the most creative thing in the world but I like it.

Simple and fun!

If you recognize this Halloween paper line…please clue me in (I’m hopeless). Thanks!
