My First Quilt…

Sewing…

It’s taken over my life.

In a good way.

I have almost completed my first quilt.

But in the meantime, I’ve made three purses, some throw pillows, an apron and a fabric bag for my son’s Nintendo DS.

I have all these ideas for Scrapbooking layouts…still my sewing machine calls to me.

My mother thinks it’s because it’s something new.

I think she’s right.

When I created this layout, I wanted to fuse my two hobbies together.

There is machine stitching and hand stitching on this layout.

I even popped in a few French Knots.

Hand stitching on a layout is not a new technique for me but machine sewing is.

I’ve been having a blast doing it!

Have a happy Monday!

2008 Oldies But Goodies {Part 2}

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Wow.

I can’t believe how fast the last two days just flew by!

Here are some photos of another 2008 “flashback” project.

Some of the little details from a “Mother’s Day” album I created back in 2008…

More Maya Roads chipboard embellishments…

I painted these little houses and added some pin dots.

I think this was near the beginning of my flower phase.

My flower phase still has not ended.

I often challenge myself to create a layout without using flowers.

I can rarely accomplish such a task.

I love flowers.

They’re too pretty.

I can’t help myself!

2008 Oldies But Goodies {Part 1}

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

I was browsing through old photos

and came across some 2008 Scrapbooking Projects.

Although I’ve blogged about these projects in the past,

I thought it would be fun to do a week of re-runs.

A blast from the past, if you will.

Back when I didn’t have a good camera.

And when I was shy about blogging (not much has changed).

I know it may be repetitive for some of you who have hung out here for awhile (Sorry Mom)…

But this is my blog and that’s just how I roll.

Not really.

OK really.

I think?

I hope this week of re-runs isn’t too boring for you all…

I’m not even sure which line of paper I used.

I know that I still like to wrap twine around just about everything.

And I still love Maya Roads…and glitter….

And….I still love scrapbooking!

Prima Love {Part 3}

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Have you grown tired of me dragging out my little Spring Album?

Today is the last day.  Promise.

More Maya Road Chipboard accents & here I added some Jenni Bowlin Vintage Buttons:

Maybe it’s the quilting influence…I’ve been making lots of squares:

The last few pages of an album are always the hardest for me to create.

It was really hard to cover up any element on the beautiful Prima paper, so I chose not to on this page:

A little close up of the metal-rimmed tag:

Another little detail…

The final two pages (aren’t you glad you hung in there till the end?):

I love the ribbon on this page.  I think it was American Crafts.

Down to the last little detail…

Now, off you visit all of your blogs!

Prima Love

I love Spring!

Everything is fresh and new…

…we spend more time outside

…we enjoy picnics at the park

…we plant & tend a vegetable garden (Memorial weekend here)

…we start to see all the baby animals along side their mothers.

I just love Spring!

_______________

To create the above album I used Prima paper and a Pink Paislee Album & Letter Stickers.

Stay tuned, I’ll post additional photos all week long.

Simple Baby Shower Banner {and other baby shower happenings}

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Earlier in the week my mom, my sister and I invited some lovely women over for a baby shower.  My sister-in-law, Kristin’s baby shower!

I made a simple banner for Kristin’s shower using the Making Memories Just Chillin‘ Line. The banner came together really quickly:

My mom and I also put together  a little diaper cake for Kristin:

It was our first time making one, and I can say that it seem as though it would’ve been a lot harder making one alone.  It was nice to have four hands instead of two, especially when were were putting rubber bands around rolled up diapers and tying ribbon.

We made little roses out of wash cloths:

I loved the monkey on the top…Kristin is decorating the baby’s room in a Jungle Theme.

Here’s some of the goodies we made:

Cherry Chip Cupcakes…

White Chocolate Peanut butter Krispie Cookies (yum):

Sweet and Salty Popcorn (made with sugar, butter & vanilla…ooo la la):

We had tons of fun!  I think Kristin liked it to…

You can barely see her baby bump in this photo (it’s hiding behind her knees).  That’s my nephew in there!

The Little Details of 2009

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

While I’m working on the new little details for 2010, I thought you might like a peek at last years…

‘Tis the Season…

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

I’ve been busy crafting, shopping, wrapping, working, stitching, reading, loving, singing and tonight…a family tradition: Baking!

I wish I could share my holiday projects but I have family members who read my blog…so, I’ll only be sharing little “sneak peeks” here and there.

I hope you’re enjoying this wonderful time of year!

{Making Memories} Mistletoe Mini Album

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

As promised, here are some (tons of) photos of my Making Memories Christmas Album!

I absolutely LOVE all of the Making Memories product!

I love that all of Making Memories papers have matching embellishments. I’m definitely an embellishment girl (as I’m sure you can tell).

Would you like to peek inside?

I thought so.

Here’s page one and two…along with some photos of the little details:

Moving on…

Here’s page three and four:

I stamped a flourish on this page with green ink.  It didn’t show up very well so I covered it with glitter glue.  Accidents happen.  Even in scrapbooking.

Now…page five and six:

I like the soft look of these pages.  Here’s a peek at the details:

I always have a hard time with the last two pages of a mini album.  I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s a subconscious thing…or maybe I’m just creatively spent?  I just don’t know why I struggle on the last pages but I do. I really, really do.

Here’s a look at page seven and eight:

I’m not sure if you can tell…the following photo shows paper with red glittered polka dots.  Fabulous! I loved red glittered polka dots!

Well ladies and gents – that’s all for now.  I hope you enjoyed taking a gander and my little Making Memories Christmas Mini Album.

Have a wonderful day!

A Layout For a Friend

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

I used the Botanicabella line from Graphic 45 to create this layout for my friend, Barbara.

Barbara has four black Newfies (only three of them are pictured).  Each dog has their own unique and precious personality!

Barbara (aka Baaabs) and her husband, Jim have been so sweet to my family…letting us plant a garden on their property (with the open-ended invitation to come check on said garden whenever we want).  Sweet right?  Good, good people.  We’re so blessed to have their friendship!

Here’s a few of the little details:

All friends are blessings and I appreciate each and every one!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love, Christie
