Graphic 45 {Curtain Call} Cards and Layout – 2011 CHA Projects

Monday, February 7th, 2011

I absolutely LOVE this new Graphic 45 line called, Curtain Call. Can you imagine how gorgeous it could be with some red accents?

The design team was asked to keep our projects within the color scheme of the line…so no red for now but just you wait!

I had a lot of fun making paper flowers and adding glitter…loads of glitter.

This photo of my grandmother is so fantastic!  I love that she looks like a movie star…so beautiful!

Another paper flower…

And more glitter on those peacock feathers.

The DT was also asked to make a paper LP with this line…this was my take:

Yes, yes. More glitter.

I’m hanging out in California this week – it’s absolutely gorgeous here!  I’m in heaven.

When we left Idaho it was 12 degrees (brrrr).  We’ve traded our measly 12 degrees for the wonderfully warm 75 degrees of Northern California.

Here’s a few shots I took of us enjoying the gorgeous weather today:

Yes, Parker is wearing flip-flops (and holstered cap-guns).  Craziness!

My gorgeous daughter (gush).

Bidwell Park.

Look!  No snow! It’s a miracle!

My adorable niece, Addie.

Holy moly she’s cute!

Izabelle goofing off with my sweet niece, Kayla (another gorgeous girl).

One can actually see the grass here.  And can you believe that my sister-in-law has already started here garden?  How am I to return to c-c-cold Idaho next Monday?

Enjoying California,

Christie xx

Remembering My Grandfather

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010
My Grandfather passed away Christmas evening.
I typed up a post about my amazing grandfather. Then I read it. Then I erased it. Then I wrote it again. Then I erased it again.
Nothing I type seems to do him justice.
One thing (among many things) that my grandfather was:
A very eloquent speaker
(something I did not inherit from him).
Mom and I traveled to Utah to stay with my Grandma…to help when we can…to comfort when we can…to be close to family and draw strength from each other.
As our car drew nearer to my grandparents home I imagined that it would be hard to see Grandma without Grandpa next to her.
I was right, it was hard. It’s rough to walk into their home and not see Grandpa’s smiling face.
I am the first of 24 grandchildren, grandpa’s oldest grandchild. My children are among his 5 great-grandchildren. Each one of us has been greatly affected by Grandpa Crabtree’s love, compassion and overall optimism. He was one happy man, a man that I for one wish to emulate.
I love and miss you Grandpa.
My uncle Joe wrote Grandpa’s obituary. Joe wrote what I could not and I would like to share it with you…
Robert Herman Crabtree died peacefully at his home in Provo, Utah late in the evening on Christmas Day 2010. He is survived by Louise, his spouse of 57 years, 6 children (Diane, Joseph, Steve, Brent, Chris and Michael), 24 grand-children and 5 great-grandchildren, who reside in Utah, California, Kansas, Idaho, Washington and New York. He was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and was the youngest of 4 sons born to Glen and Addie Crabtree, and is survived by his older brother, Larry. He was a man of great faith, and served tirelessly in many positions through his years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including High Priest Group Leader, Bishop, Mission Doctor and serving in Mission Presidencies. He was an excellent and widely respected physician, graduating from George Washington University in 1954. He specialized in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, practicing initially in Los Angeles, then Paradise, California from 1964 to 2005. He served on hospital boards, presided over medical societies and volunteered for community service positions. He had a passion for learning, travel, fine arts and fine music, sharing with his children and friends many amazing adventures. He was an avid golfer, fly fisherman and loved to play games. He deeply enjoyed the beauty of nature, particularly at his family cabin in Idaho. Most of all, he loved his family, listened to them, encouraged and nurtured them regularly with visits and calls. He was beloved by his patients, friends, and family for his infectious optimism and playful humor, which will be sorely missed.

A viewing will be held at 9am Thursday December 30th at the LDS Church at 650 Stadium Avenue in Provo, Utah. Services will be held thereafter at 11am.

Have a Happy and Blessed Christmas

Happy Halloween!

There’s a new Sheriff in town.

Meet Sheriff Parker:

He’s tough on crime.

It’s very official.

Meet Sheriff Parker’s little sister, the Satyr:

She grew horns for the occasion.

It was a little tough growing fur and hooves but she managed to get the job done.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

That Fall Feeling…

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I can’t say it enough:

I LOVE FALL!

In honor of this glorious season, the kids and I drove over to Grandma Wolfe’s house yesterday to make homemade caramel corn. We can’t stop eating it.  It’s oh-so-good-wonderful-fantastic-yummy-yummy-to-my-tummy-mmm-mmm-good. I keep telling my husband that he’s cut off,

“No more caramel corn for your buddy!”

But he doesn’t believe me.  And so he keeps eating more. It’s really that good.

The Last Few Weeks

Monday, October 11th, 2010

I’m back!  Are you excited? Me too!

Have you been wondering what I’ve been up to?

Christie, what on earth have you been up to?

If you had actually asked the above question, this would have been my reply:

Baking, birthday parties, cleaning, sewing curtains, driving to Utah, going to the circus, helping kids with homework, showing up for work on time, finishing design team projects, visiting grandparents, driving to California, helping my best friend take care of her brand new baby, cooking meals, driving, more scrapbooking projects, more driving, visiting my brother and his wife, playing with my nieces, training the new girl at the California store, farmers market, laundry, attending studio dedications, purchasing new brakes for my car, working, more cleaning, dusting – lots and lots of dusting, packing, even more driving, unpacking, eating and SCRAPBOOKING!

for the last two weeks I have averaged about 2-4 hours of sleep per night.

I just know you feel sorry for me, right?

If you don’t, you should (not really).

Paradise ScrapbookBoutique

My happy place. A place where I am surrounded by friends, love, laughter, good food and plenty of beautiful scrapbooking supplies.

With help from my handy dandy camera, I’ve photographed some of the wonderful faces, places and most of the craziness that has been my life the past few weeks. I will share some of my photos soon. For now, I’m headed to bed, straight to the sweet, comfy, warm loveliness that will sooth my tired body.

Happy Birthday to Two Amazing People!

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

For Izabelle’s birthday yesterday, she picked out a special Rasberry Lemon Cupcake from Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe.

We purchased five additional flavors at Cocoa Bean, including: Strawberry Red Velvet and Cherry Chocolate Cheesecake (among others).

Izabelle’s mandatory 10th Birthday photo:

Dear Izabelle,
Welcome to double-digits my sweet girl, there’s no going back now!
It’s amazing to think that you had such a tiny start to life at only 2 pounds 6 ounces. Now you’ve grown into a beautiful girl with an amazingly kind, totally quirky personality. I love how thoughtful you are, how creative you are and how you bless my life every single day. You have grown into such a smart, funny and loving girl. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful daughter. I feel so honored to be your mother.
Love,
Mama

Today is another special person’s birthday…my Grandmother, Louise Crabree.

Dear Grandma Crabtree,
There are not words to express what an amazing blessing it is to be your granddaughter.  You have enriched and blessed my life in countless ways.  You are a shining example and I aspire to be just like you.
Thank you for sharing your time, talents, wonderful food and even more wonderful life stories.  Thank you for your patients and kindness. Thank you for showing me the importance of documenting my children’s life through photography and for instilling in me the desire to keep a record of my family’s history through letters, articles, handwriting, drawings, etc.  I’ve learned from the best!
I appreciate all that you do and love you very much.
I hope that your feel special today, not only because it’s your birthday but because you are a very special and unique woman. My birthday wish for you is that this coming year is filled with love, delight and countless blessings.
With much love,
Christie

In other news…

It’s starting to look a little “spooky” around these parts.

We’re getting ready for Izabelle’s Spooky Birthday Party next weekend.

Here’s a few photos of what now resides  inside our apothecary jars:

Have a fabulous day!

My Minds Eye {Lost & Found} Portobello Road

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Labor Day Weekend has arrived.

I’m ready!

Before I take off to my (much anticipated) Family Reunion,

I thought I’d share another My Minds Eye Layout.

This layout came together quickly.

Almost the entire layout was created with the

My Minds Eye Lost & Found Portobello Road Line

(excluding the Wide Sheer Ribbon, Cardstock & Shimmerz).

Speaking of Shimmerz,

I used some of the Shimmerz Pearlz to create the Pin Dots in the corners of this layout.

But the sparkly, “Handsome Boy” label:

My Minds Eye.

Yep.

And the fun brads:

You guessed it,

My Minds Eye.

Love this paper.

It’s a little bit of Scrapbooker’s Heaven.

In other news:

Remember those photo albums of my Grandmother’s that my father found?

The precious and rare albums that were not destroyed in the fire?

I’m finally done scanning photos.

And almost done creating the photo CD’s for my cousins.

I thought I’d share of few of my favorites:

Grandma Clara giving my little brother, Seth his first bath.

It was a tradition that Grandma Clara gave all her grandchildren their first bath.

{You can see me in the photo…I’m in the mirror}

Left to right: Rachel Wolfe, Tarah Wolfe Livingston, Grandma Clara, Rebecca Wolfe, Corianne Wolfe and Christie Wolfe Bryant

This photo shows the nightgowns that Grandma Clara made for each of her granddaughters that lived nearby. Having a matching nightgown with my cousins is a favorite Christmas memory.

Grandma Clara on her front porch.

Grandma lived in Paradise, California for many, many years (not sure the exact number).

They don’t often get snow in Paradise

but when they do – Grandma loved it!

I can’t wait to share these (and many more) special photos with my cousins.

Thanks for stopping by,

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
