“Mother Dear, I love you so” – A Mother’s Day Layout

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

I finished my Mother’s Day Layout for PSB this afternoon…Now you can see what I did with those pretty paper flowers. I’m sure Karen will post this layout on the PSB site sometime in the next couple of days.

It’s now almost 3 in the morning. I swear…I’m out of control. I’ve started organizing my scrapbooking supplies, I feel like my scrapbook area at home has been such a crazy mess.

I was inspired to organize because I’m getting ready to launch my site soon. AND PSB is having a Scrapbook Yard Sale on National Scrapbook Day. It’s a good chance to weed through my stash…although, I’ve been so into sorting that I forgot to go to bed! OK…{yawn} I’m off to catch some Z’s. At least tomorrow is Saturday, maybe my kids will let me sleep in a little this morning (If my sweet husband keeps them at bay). Ah well, I’m sure I’ll catch up one of these days.

Oh, it’s May 5th now (even if it is after 2am). Happy birthday to my Mother-in-law!!!

Pretty Paper Flowers…

My Mother’s Day layout is in the making…promise.

I’ve gone back to work full time and it’s been quite an adjustment. I’ve been up past midnight for at least two weeks straight now (maybe more, I can’t remember)…I am desperately trying to adjust to my new work schedule, it’s crazy enough to have side affects. One of them is staying up super-late just to finish laundry. Don’t feel too sorry for me, I have finished some scrapbooking projects in the wee hours too. Although, I must admit, these late nights & early mornings are starting to wear me down a little. I ache for proper sleep.

This morning when the alarm went off at 5:45 (I always give myself a 15 minute snooze so technically it was 6) I told my sweet husband that I was coming straight home after work and hitting the hay. Imagine that…waking up and planning sleep again. HA! Yeh, well…that didn’t quite happen. Here it is after 9pm and I’m just getting started on my 2nd wind (alright, maybe it’s my 6th or 7th wind). Random. Anyhoo…I’ve finally found a moment to start on my Mother’s Day class layout. I wanted to create some fun “vintage-looking” flowers from the paper I’ll be using. The photo above is what I came up with. There will definitely be quite a few of these flowers on my layout (mixed with lace and buttons and silk flowers of course). I will post a sneak peek of the project when it’s finished. OK…maybe I will hit the hay after all (but first I’ve got to throw the laundry in the dryer, feed the dog & cats, kiss the kids, throw the dishes in the dishwasher, bug my hubby about my website….you get the idea).

I can’t keep my hands off this paper! It’s so beautiful! I used the Baby 2 Bride Collection on the baby book I started (shown in an earlier blog). For this book I used the Times Nouveau Collection. I’m not exactly sure when this mini book class will be held yet…Sometime in April maybe? What do you all think of it? Do you love this paper as much as I do?

La la love Graphic 45

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Yes, yes I do! I absolutely love the Graphic 45 paper. Of course I couldn’t resist purchasing some and starting another project. Here it is close to midnight on a Monday (I should be sleeping). Instead of going to sleep at 10pm tonight like I planned, 10pm seemed the best time to start a project!

dsc06089.jpgI love to go to crops! I was actually in my element today at PSB (my favorite scrapbook store) from 10:30am until midnight! I love the laughter, the stories and the friendships that go on there.

I have such a strong desire to write my family history. The great thing about scrapbooking is that I get to write that story in my own words and my own way. Because of scrapbooking my family and loved ones will know just how much I cherish them.

I just spent the day with so many wonderful women (all amazingly talented), all there in one room with common purpose. How amazing it is to get to know these women and feel an instant connection through our craft.

I love you Easter Bunny…

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

…all because of that old commercial…I can’t say “Easter Bunny” without “I love you”…

…I don’t even remember what the commercial was for…some kind of candy I’m sure. Random!

Speaking of bunnies, I designed a Easter layout for PSB. As I was painting the bunny for the layout, my daughter informed me that I needed to make sure the bunny had an apron. I thought it was a cute idea so of course I obliged. Then I added eyes…it seemed to need a nose too…and then a smile…goodness, a pearl necklace! That’s one decked out bunny!

Here I am…a girl who dreams about paper and what to do with it!

dsc05437.JPG

I love taking photos and I love paper so…naturally I love to scrapbook.

I teach some scrapbooking classes at a store in Paradise, CA called “Paradise Scrapbook Boutique

I love it there…I feel so inspired each time I walk through the door. I was lucky enough to tag a long to CHA in Orange County with Karen (the owner of PSB) and her sister Deb. It was my first time to CHA ever and OH BABY it was so fun! I came right home and started working on my new class…check it out:

I picked up some Easter paper today and worked on some projects with my kids, we made cute little paper-covered eggs…the egg probably would have been really cute if I would have used mod podge!

I am going to be starting my own website “Prettypaperbook.com” where I will be selling hand-made albums (mostly 6×6, 8×8 and shaped albums). I’m excited to get it up and running.

My husband (computer genius that he is) and his designer friends are still working on how the site will look…I think they’re really just buying me time to make more albums. Hopefully it will be up and running by the first week in March! Keep your finger’s crossed!
