Living in the moment…
Life is full of the little moments…one and then another. I’ve been trying to enjoy the happy little moments in between all the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life.
Today my son informed me that he loved me so much that he will never leave me (he has mentioned this before and believe me, it’s adorable). I could have let my mind dwell on the fact that one day he will reach the age when he wants to leave the nest and ‘become a man’. Instead I let myself enjoy the love and praise he was giving me. He really is my boy…I claim him totally and completely. Right now, at the age of 11, my son thinks that I am the best mom ever (seriously, he said this)! Today, I’m just going to let myself believe it. I’ll go back to bashing my mothering skills some other day.
Yup. Worlds best mom here, nice to meet you.

Very sweet….but I already claimed that title from MY boy - LOL! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

Parker is so sweet. But I already told MY mom that she was the best mom ever. So, I hope you don’t mind being the 2nd best mom ever?

Aw, that is so sweet! My 9 1/2 y.o. son said he would never leave….. I said ” you will want a wife and family of your own some day”….. he thought we could all just live here together….. with 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, I told him we might not all fit in this house…. he decided to buy the house next door and put a gate in the fence! I love THAT plan…..( :0 )

i love the things your son said lap it up and enjoy!!
May 21st, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Beautiful pictures! I love when my son says things like that. Lately it’s that he will come home to live with me every weekend when he is not in space being an astronaut!
Have a great week!

Sounds like Parker is a keeper! I have two sons that are teenagers. They are still wonderful. I love the top picture in today’s post. Cindi

Awwww, so sweet!!! Happy memory.
May 31st, 2008 at 9:58 am
That’s so sweet. Definately enjoy each moment because they grow up soo fast. I love the details on the pictures you shared. So talented.
July 23rd, 2008 at 5:25 am
Definitely cherish the moment. That’s so sweet.
July 23rd, 2008 at 5:28 am
There is no better sound than that of your child telling you they love you! Especially when that child has Autism and you have waited much longer than normal. I think he realizes the power he has now because whenever I am scolding him for doing something wrong, he says, “I just love you Mommy!” I melt every time!
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:15 am
Oh, your son is such a sweetie! I hope my kiddo still thinks that by the time she is a tween!
Cheers!
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:45 am
*sigh* - that is so sweet. and coming from a boy, no less! I can’t remember when I last heard something so sweet from either of my two girls, without it being Christmas or a birthday or something.
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:52 am
Ah, the joys of motherhood! My youngest man informs me that I am “the best” pretty regularly. It makes up for the times that his older brother informs me that I am “the worst”.
Gotta love it!
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:52 am
What a sweet boy! Remember that when you’re waiting up for him late one night and hoping he isn’t getting into trouble!
July 23rd, 2008 at 7:15 am
There’s something about boys and their mamas. My son is 8 and cries because he doesn’t want to grow up because that means he will have to leave me. He never wants to leave me. Talk about pulling at your heartstrings!!!
July 23rd, 2008 at 7:41 am
Love that! My 12 year old son, still says the same thing.
My 14 year old daughter sings a different song!
Enjoy it while it lasts.
July 23rd, 2008 at 7:42 am
Aren’t sons the best! My 5 year old constantly tells me he loves me and comes up for hug and a big ole kiss on my cheek…
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:06 am
Awww so sweet! Those are the moments I wish I had captured on video. I know the teenage years are coming someday!
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:15 am
I try to treasure those little sentiments too because, yeah, in about ten years I’ll be the “meanest mom EVER.”
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:46 am
So sweet. Another sentimental post. So good. Congrats on being the featured blogger today.
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:53 am
What a sweet little boy.. I agree with Heather — don’t forget the sweet moments!!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:00 am
I have the same sweet boy myself…and I thank God for him everyday…because he reminds me every day…that I’m doing something right, even if I think I’m a big flop.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:02 am
That’s so sweet! What a nice boy you must have! Its nice to see moms and sons bond. There are no boys at my house, but I do like to see how little boys interact with their moms. It think its telling. I’m sure you are a world’s best mom!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:09 am
How sweet. And at age 11…that’s really kind of amazing! My guy’s too little to say I love you, but I know he means it as he cuddles against my leg as I write.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:16 am
Brought tears to my eyes…give that boy a big hug!!! Sound like you’re raising some good husband material there!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:20 am
kids have a such a way with melting your heart - it very nicely offsets the times that they drive you totally batty.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:26 am
What a sweetie!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:33 am
That is so sweet! You are one lucky mom. I can’t wait until my son is old enough to articulate things like that. Right now I will be wholeheartedly content with “lawv you Mommy.”
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:39 am
Awwww, this is soooo sweet! This gives me hope that my son will feel that way about me, too! Especially at that age!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:40 am
Love this story! Congrats to you for being able to just bask in the love and not worry about the day to day things that tie our brains up 75% of the time!
You’ve inspired me to do this today.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:57 am
You are so good at telling these sweet stories. This is something we all need to do more, it is hard at times though.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:01 am
We should all store up those “pull at the heart strings moments” and replay them when our kids are teens and yelling at us b/c they hate us.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:03 am
There’s nothing like the unconditional love from our kids. I’m sure it comes from the unconditional love they are given. Sweet.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:04 am
What a sweet boy! I have an eleven year old right now also, and he’s wonderful. It’s a fun age. They are growing up so fast.
I like Jen’s idea (the post right before me).
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:20 am
There is nothing better than a child praising you and thinking you are great. When you put so much of yourself into being a mother, it’s moments like these that make it worth it.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:39 am
This will be good to read when you’re aggrevated! My son, at 10, is no longer interested in staying with me forever. Broke my heart!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 am
Awww…thats great! Most boys are momma boys. I can’t wait to hear my son say things like that to me…right now its just “more”, “mine” and “no” a lot!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:54 am
Awww…how boys love their mama’s is great. I am so blessed to have 2!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:57 am
Your images are gorgeous! And sons *sigh* I have one of those and you are right, they can wrap you around their little finger. Funny how when they are little they don’t ever want to leave us.
Jen

My 11 yr old daughter could take lessons from him, most days I am the meanest mom in the world. But I know they love me.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:10 am
how sweet! i love little boys
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:39 am
So sweet. You have something more to look forward to. They grow up, recognize your faults, and still think you’re the greatest mom around!
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:47 am
I can’t wait to hear those words! Happy SITS day!
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:48 am
That’s so sweet he says that. Every once in awhile, my 16 yr old says the same thing. Sometimes he wants something, sometimes he really means it.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Kids can say the sweetest things, can’t they?
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Wow, that’s awesome that your 11yo still says he never wants to leave!
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Oh, so there is hope that if I have children someday, they won’t be terrors?
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:08 pm
I hope my three-year old still thinks that way at 11—even now, he says things that break my heart (in a good way). We were “hiding” from his daddy in a blanket tent the other day, and I whispered, “I love you” to him. I nearly bawled when he whispered back, “I love you too Mommy.”
(Instead of the usual, “love you.”) Great post and blog.
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Love your photo details…
Always believe your son will think you’re wonderful… Don’t let people tell you he’ll think anything different later in life. My son and daughter are 18 and 15 and somehow still think I’m amazing… Either I’ve got them completely snookered or I really am doing something right.

July 23rd, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Great post! Remind yourself to go back and read this when you’re old and gray. It’s so great to capture this sweetness.
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
How wonderful! It’s encouraging to know he still tells you that at 11–my son is two and I love on him now because I know he won’t always let me hug him so much.
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:55 pm
We have enough days where we beat ourselves up over our parenting, or our kids are beating one another up (lol) and we are beside ourselves. Just sit back, smile and enjoy!
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:01 pm
I heart it. My DS is 7 and says he is never leaving home.
Happy SITS Day
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:23 pm
You need to try and capture those moments on film or video and then put them in a safe place so you can pull them out any time you want and remember all over again how special and lucky you are to be a MOM.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:58 pm
adorable.
July 23rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm
can’t wait for that day to come from one of mine.
July 23rd, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Congrats best mom in the world
That’s awesome. It’s a commendation to you and how you raised him!
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Congrats on SITS day! You son sounds like the sweetest son in the world!
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Boys are the best! What a sweet one you have!
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Aren’t those moments just the best? Mine is 3, so she has been declaring her love and devotion for about a year now, and I treasure it each time. I dread the day when she stops feeling that way.
July 23rd, 2008 at 7:40 pm
I only hope to hear those words some day! My baby isn’t talking quite yet, so it’s down the road. Your son sounds so sweet!
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:03 pm
That’s so cute.
Kids can always be counted on to say the sweetest or most embarrassing or funniest things!!
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:17 pm
You’re doing pretty darn good if your 11 year old is still saying sweet things like that.
My daughter says I’m the best mother she’s ever met. But she’s only four. I cling to it because I don’t know how long she’ll feel that way, lol.
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:26 pm
wonderful. savor that as long as you can
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:46 pm
I love it when my son says stuff like that to me. Thanks for reminding me, too, to not think about how things will change one day, but instead live in the moment and love every minute of it. Awesome post.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:14 pm
How sweet! Moments like that make it all worth it, don’t they?
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Life is Good!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:35 pm
That is so sweet. Sounds like your great at capturing these moments too. It will be nice to share that with him, wife and his kids some day.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:41 pm
My two year old says “bad mommy” … whenever he is denied! It is depressing but I keep hoping that someday he’ll say those sweet things!
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:47 pm
It thrills me to hear that my sweet 7 year old may give me another 4 years of love…this is such good news!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Aww, I take that praise as often as I can get it. It helps you remember you’re doing something right.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:25 pm
With a mom who obviously puts so much effort into making and preserving childhood memories, I think your son will give you that title for a long time to come!
July 24th, 2008 at 10:10 am
You know he just reflects what he gets, right? Parenting is a hard job but those little minutes are what make it worthwhile.
July 24th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
My youngest daughter is the same way… she says she is never growing up and will live with me forever!
July 24th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
My daughter too! I agree!! I need more happy moments!!
